I may be the “big cheese” at Graydon’s, but it wasn’t all that long ago that I was brand new to the world of cheese.
There I was at my interview for an Assistant Manager position at a local cheese shop. The owner asked me, “What do you know about cheese”? And I said, “Well, I know I like it.”
I got the job, but I couldn’t help but wonder…could I cut it as an amateur cheesemonger? I mean, I liked eating cheese, but…selling it? I had a lot to learn.
But it turns out…I could cut it. I realized that not only did I love cheese. I loved the people who loved their cheese.
When I relocated to British Columbia, I knew I wanted to open a neighbourhood cheese shop just for them.
